Agallas

Agallas, the Spanish edition of Raina Telgemeier’s graphic memoir about anxiety, offers an accessible, compassionate portrayal of fears, physical symptoms, therapy, friendship, and gradual self-knowledge. Telgemeier’s expressive artwork makes internal distress visible, while the conversational Spanish supports readers who prefer or are developing confidence in that language. The book can help middle-grade audiences feel less alone and encourage empathetic discussion about mental health. Its honesty is its greatest strength. However, depictions of panic and bodily sensations may feel intense for some readers, and the translation’s cultural or linguistic choices may not suit every Spanish-speaking audience equally.
