Rather than relying only on action, it invites older children and teenagers to compare accounts, assess bias, and consider whether truth can be recovered from incomplete evidence. The psychological structure and disciplined questioning are its main strengths. However, the retrospective format, formal language, and emotionally serious murder investigation require patience, making it more appropriate for mature readers than for younger children.
