Diary of a Wimpy Kid #2 - Rodrick Rules
Reviewed by Anonymous
Rodrick Rules develops the series’ focus on sibling rivalry, secrets, family power struggles, friendship, and the consequences of trying to control other people’s opinions. Greg remains a clever but unreliable narrator, and his uneasy relationship with Rodrick drives much of the comedy without requiring readers to know the first book. The blend of cartoons, short entries, and school-and-home embarrassments suits middle-grade and reluctant readers. One mild limitation is that the humor frequently depends on humiliation and deception, which may feel harsh, though the fast pacing keeps it entertaining.
