Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Hard Luck Book & CD

4.0

Reviewed by Anonymous

Hard Luck follows Greg Heffley through concerns about friendship, social status, independence, and the uneasy process of adapting when relationships change. Its diary pages and cartoons make it inviting for children around 8–12, while the included CD can support read-along listening or add value for families using audio formats. Kinney excels at turning ordinary school and family anxieties into quick, visual comedy, with a voice that reluctant readers readily recognize. The limitation is that the humor often depends on Greg’s self-absorption, and the episodic structure may feel less substantial than a conventional novel.
